Bride Invites All Ex-Bfs to Her Wedding

A Chinese bride who invited her ex-boyfriends to her wedding banquet – and set up an exclusive table for them – has sparked a heated discussion on Chinese social media.
A video of events at the wedding in central China’s Hubei province on January 8 has been dubbed “the most awkward banquet ever” online, as it depicts at least five men sitting around the table on which a place card reads, “Table of Ex-boyfriends”.
Although sitting together peacefully, the five men appeared uncomfortable and out of tune with the festive atmosphere of the wedding.
Some observers suggested two women also sitting at the table were current partners of the bride’s ex-boyfriends.
Social media users were amused by the embarrassed looks on their faces, and marveled at how similar they looked to each other.
Comment no.1: Bride's taste in men has not changed. All the men he dated look alike.

“It is quite daring to invite ex-lovers to your wedding banquet and likewise for them to attend,” said a poster on Douyin.
“Hats off to the talented bride who helped these long-lost ‘brothers’ to reunite,” another joked about the similar appearance of the men, “I think I can imagine what the groom looks like.”
A third said the bride’s consistent standards when it came to looks suggested her single-mindedness: “You thought the bride has a lot of exes, but actually she’s loyal in love relationships,” the poster remarked.
While some said it was disrespectful to the groom and his family to flaunt ex-boyfriends at the wedding, others praised the spouse for his “really big heart”.
A Douyin user pointed out the difficult situation the groom faced: “He had to accept the situation, or he would end up sitting at the ex-boyfriends’ table in the future.”
Some people also speculated the whole scene was set up as a joke between the newlyweds’ siblings, because “they just look so alike”, said one social media observer.
It is not the first time that an ex-lovers’ table at a wedding banquet made news in the Chinese mainland.
In June 2022, a video went viral showing nine men seated at an “ex-boyfriends’ table” and later holding a banner that read, “All Ex-boyfriends Wish Ting a Happy Wedding” to celebrate their ex-girlfriend’s big day in south China’s Guangdong province.
The poster later said it was just a joke, explaining that the nine men were the bride’s childhood friends.
